Aries wants it now; Taurus wants it right. That single difference explains most of what happens between these two. These two are neighbours on the wheel yet share no common language — Fire runs on impulse and momentum, Earth on patience and the evidence of the senses. The semisextile is the aspect of neighbours who don't quite click: no instant chemistry, more a low friction, the sense of standing beside someone whose whole operating system rests on different assumptions.

One begins, the other finishes

The mode gap sharpens it. Aries initiates and then loses interest in the follow-through; Taurus is slow to start and immovable once it commits. So Aries lights the fire and Taurus keeps it burning long after Aries has wandered off toward the next thing. Handled well, that's a real division of labour: one begins, the other finishes. Handled badly, Aries feels dragged on an anchor and Taurus feels shoved off a cliff.

Aries and Taurus in love and friendship

In love, the pull is genuine but it needs translating. Taurus is steadied by Aries's nerve and drawn to the heat; Aries is calmed, almost against its will, by Taurus's warmth and physical ease. But Aries reads Taurus's deliberation as pigheadedness, and Taurus reads Aries's speed as recklessness — and neither is entirely wrong. The attraction often works before the calendar does; the strain is in the tempo of daily life, where one wants to rush and the other refuses to be rushed.

Between friends, the very unlikeness that strains the romance becomes their asset. Taurus shows Aries that some things are worth the wait; Aries jolts Taurus out of a rut it would happily occupy forever. What grows here grows by contrast rather than by comfort.

Beyond the sun signs

Worth keeping in mind: two Suns a sign apart is a thin slice of the actual story. Plenty of Aries–Taurus couples thrive because their Moon signs harmonize, or because a well-placed rising sign softens everything the Suns leave rough.
